GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provides overall mechanical and maintenance operations of the Central Klickitat County Park and Recreation District (CKCPRD) swimming pools. Insures that mechanical and maintenance safety standards are met.

 EXAMPLES OF WORK:  

§         Maintains appropriate operations records (pool chemistry, meter readings etc.) required by regulatory and licensing agencies

§         Provides weekend and evening on-call leadership and operations coverage and direction as needed and assigned.

§         Purchases supplies and materials as authorized; and/or gives a list of supplies to the pool manager who will place the orders.

§         Operates, maintains, and repairs the mechanical equipment, including filters, chlorinators, and; performs trouble-shooting of equipment and systems. Assesses system operations to determine ability to maintain safety and quality standards.

§         Identifies routine maintenance and mechanical repair or renovation, including work done by outside contractors and suppliers.

§         Coordinates with the pool manger to train designated head lifeguards to make minor operation adjustments to systems and to monitor operations.

§         Performs other duties assigned

DESIRED SPECIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITY TO QUICKLY LEARN:

§         Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of swimming pool filters, heaters, chlorinators, pumps, and other related swimming pool circulation and sanitation equipment and systems.

§         Knowledge of procedures and regulations for the proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.

§         Knowledge of materials and technical operations standards and health codes for swimming pools.

§         Knowledge of water chemistry related to swimming pool operations, and pool water safety practices and precautions.

ABILITY TO:

§         Maintain the pool chemistry and various systems to assure compliance with federal, state and county pool and spa sanitation codes and regulations.

§         Cooperate with supervisors and staff to coordinate the on-going and future mechanical and maintenance services of the CKCPRD Aquatic Center.

§         Work cooperatively and professionally with the public and the Aquatic Center staff.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school graduate or GED or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above described duties.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid WA drivers license, CPR and First Aid training (district can provide this training).
